Call for Submissions

The Core Writing Program at the University of Nevada, Reno is compiling an online repository of invention exercises for composition and creative writing courses, not only for members of the UNR community but for interested instructors nationwide. We are looking to create a site that will give instructors ideas for writing activities that can be built upon over the course of an entire semester and satisfy the aims of a process-oriented writing course (to get a sense of how we define this, please click here).

You may e-mail submissions to the following address in an attached .doc or .rtf file: stevenj1@unr.edu. Please include the following:

1) The invention exercise (if you are not the original source but know the original source for the exercise, please give due credit)

2) Any helpful hints for using or adapting the exercise in the classroom

3) A brief note discussing the rationale or pedagogical purpose for the exercise

4) Suggestions of ways for students or instructors to expand or develop the exercise

Multiple submissions are welcome (but please attach a separate file for each exercise).
