Getting Advice
Although the responsibility for meeting all graduation requirements rests on your shoulders, an academic advisor can assist you with interpreting your DARS report and dealing with special circumstances such as transfer credits, substitute courses and internships. An advisor can also help you identify appropriate courses and instructors along your particular lines of interest. So we recommend making an appointment to see an advisor every semester or so.
The busiest times for advisors are just before and after the beginning of the semester, and near the end of the semester once the next semester's class schedule has been published. Your advisor will appreciate your planning ahead, and you will also benefit.
The list to the left includes all advisors in English, and is updated each semester (you should confirm posted hours just in case).
The English Department also maintains an undergraduate listserv, an email list for announcements and reminders of scholarships, visiting speakers and writers, newly added sections of popular courses, and other useful information. To be added to this list, send your email address to the Department of English.
