Criminal Justice students - General Option students
English 101 (or appropriate course according to your ACT/SAT placement score, refer to English section of your class schedule - 3 credits Math (appropriate math course according to your ACT/SAT placement score, refer to the Math section of your class schedule - 3 credits Sociology 101- 3 credits Psychology 101 - (avoid self-paced sections, usually sections 001-005) - 3 credits HCS 154 - 3 credits Criminal Justice 101 (only offered in the fall semester) - 3 credits Criminal Justice 102 (only offered in the spring semester) - 3 credits Foreign Language Fine Art (Refer to the DARS report for selection of classes) - 3 credits Any combination of these courses will work fine for your first two semesters. Criminal Justice - Law Option students
English 101 & 102 - placement is based on ACT/SAT scores. 6 credits. Contact the Core Writing Office with questions.
Math - placement is based on ACT/SAT scores. Check the current schedule for placement. The two Natural Science core courses may not be taken until a core Math course is completed. 3 credits
Natural Science – two courses are required, at least one must be taken in group A science; the second may be taken in group A or B. Note, core math is a prerequisite. For selection, see catalog or DARS report.
Social Science - a University Core Requirement, refer to catalog or DARS report for selection. 3 credits.
Criminal Justice 101 (offered during the Fall semester). 3 credits.
Criminal Justice 102 (offered during the Spring semester). 3 credits
Philosophy 102, Critical Thinking (offered every semester). 3 credits.
Recommend second semester. Note, Philosophy 101 is not required.
Fine Arts - a University Core requirement, refer to catalog or DARS report for selection. 3 credits.
Foreign language - if four years of a foreign language were not completed in high school, students must complete a fourth semester course. Placement tests are available through the Foreign Languages Department. Refer to DARS report for options.
* Students should focus on completing lower division (100-200 level courses)
core university, college, and major requirements during their first two years.
