Assistant Professor, 1991- pres., Department of Criminal Justice, University of Nevada.  Teaching, research, and writing in the area of criminal justice with an emphasis on courts and law; minority issues. Specialty undergraduate and graduate courses developed and implemented in Jurisprudence (capstone), Struggle for Justice (capstone), Star Trek, Law, and Ethics (capstone), Courts and Criminal Justice, Legal Aspects of Corrections, Law and Law Schools, Law and Justice, Criminal Justice Employment Issues, Law, Ethics and Justice Policy; Co-developer of the Pre-law Program, 2000. Early tenure, 1995.

Adjunct Assistant Professor, 1986-1991, Metropolitan State College, Denver, Colorado - Chapman College, Colorado Springs, Colorado.  Teaching experience gained in over twenty courses on law, criminal justice, and employment relations at the graduate and undergraduate levels.  Courses taught to traditional and nontraditional students including inmates in the "College Behind Walls" program.

Legal Access Attorney, 1988-1991, Colorado Department of Corrections.  Contract attorney responsible for providing legal advice and assistance in post-conviction relief and civil rights matters to over 4,000 inmates in 10 facilities.  Supervised four state employee legal assistants and over 20 inmate law clerks.


Arbitrator, 1988 tax year, appointed under state law to arbitrate appeals from real property tax assessments, El Paso County, Colorado.  Held formal hearings, swore in witnesses and made rulings on evidence, rendered binding written decisions. 

General Partner, 1983-1988, Lentz and Chaires, Attorneys at Law.  Litigation Partner in a firm emphasizing employment and family law.

Police Officer, 1975-1987, Denver Police Department.  Worked a variety of general and specialized police assignments in every  socio-economic sector of a 500,000 + population city, 11 commendations.
