History of Assessment in Core Humanities

Learning Objectives of the Core Humanities Program |

A student successfully completing the Core Humanities sequence at UNR will: 1) Be able to read and interpret texts in different genres from a variety of historical periods and reflecting different cultural values and practices. 2) Be able to frame orally and in writing arguments about texts, cultures, ideas, and institutions, and to support those arguments with relevant evidence 3) Be able to trace historically selected important ideas, institutions, practices, and habits of mind associated with the developing culture of the West 4) Understand and be able to apply orally and in writing the knowledge, perspectives, principles, and modes of reasoning embodied in the humanities 5) Be able to demonstrate orally and in writing an understanding of how the knowledge, perspectives, principles, and modes of reasoning embodied in the humanities have contributed to human achievement 6) Be able to demonstrate orally and in writing an understanding of a variety of cultures in appropriate interpretive contexts, and to recognize cultural differences and cultural pluralism |
