Learning Outcomes for CH 203 |

|
A student successfully completing CH 203 at UNR will be able to: 1) Write a coherent, well-supported argument with a clear thesis, relevant claims, and careful attention to opposing claims. 2) Recognize and discuss the significance of the varieties of “American experience” as reflected in the diversity of values and practices underlying American cultural pluralism. 3) Read, interpret, and analyze primary American texts with attention to content, historical and cultural context, and language. 4) Make well-supported oral arguments about ideas, issues, and problems connected with the sources of individual and collective identity in the U.S. 5) Articulate how the bodies of knowledge, perspectives, principles, and modes of reasoning embodied in the humanities disciplines have contributed to American achievements. 6) Trace the development of institutions and ideas of self and society in the U.S. 7) Reflect on and discuss the implications of arts, technologies, scientific discoveries, and economic ideas to American cultural ideas and institutions. 8) Analyze the philosophical, political, social, and institutional implications of the constitutional model reflected in the U.S. and Nevada constitutions. |
