Scott Slovic

SlovicScott Slovic is professor of Literature and Environment and head of the English Department's Graduate Program in Literature and Environment. The author, editor, or co-editor of twelve books, his research specialties include American environmental literature, the relation between narrative discourse and environmental values, autobiography and environmental experience, and environmental rhetoric. In addition to teaching CH 203, he offers courses in American literature, comparative literature, literary nonfiction, and composition. He earned his B.A. from Stanford University (1983) and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Brown University (1986, 1990). He was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Bonn (Germany) in 1986-87 and at the University of Tokyo, Sophia University, and Rikkyo University (Japan) in 1993-94. He has been a faculty member at UNR since 1995, with stints as a visiting professor at Rice University and the University of Queensland (Australia).
