Francis Hartigan

HartiganFrancis X. Hartigan is a professor in the history department and former Director of the university's honors program, which he established in the late 1980s.  With a Ph.D. in medieval French history from the University of Wisconsin, Hartigan teaches courses in classical and medieval history, Core Humanities, and historiography.  He established UNR's long-running London Program, and, with Phil Boardman, took groups of students to England and France to study medieval culture and to Italy and Greece to study classical culture.  He was the Joseph N. Crowley Distinguished Professor of the Humanities for 2003-2005.  Lake Tahoe provides his venue for sailing in the summer and cross-country skiing in the winter.
