Neal Ferguson joined
the faculty at the
University
of
Nevada
in 1970. As long-time Dean of Continuing Education, he oversaw the transformation of the program to become Extended Studies in its own facilities on North Virginia Street. Now in the History Department, he teaches, in addition
to Core humanities, courses in English history and the history of
modern warfare. A number of his courses are available through
Extended Studies/ Independent Learning’s web-based program.
He is an active Chautauquan having portrayed a number of historical
figures. Currently, he—as General Douglas MacArthur—and
President Harry Truman have been staging historic debates at various venues. When
not at the university,
Ferguson
may be found slaying snakes on local
golf courses.
