Stacy Burton
is an associate professor in the Department of English, where she is also
department chair. She received a Ph.D. in comparative literature from
Cornell University; her research interests include modernism and postmodernism,
cultural and literary theory, and travel narrative. She has taught
courses in several fields, including modern British and European literature,
literary criticism and cultural theory, the novel, western humanities, women's
studies, and composition. A member of the University of Nevada faculty
since 1990, she teaches Core Humanities 202 and is co-editor of the reader
for that course, Trials of Modernity. Her lecture, "Europeans
and Others: Travel, Empire, and the 'Orient,'" was broadcast in the
KNPB series, The Western Traditions Lectures.
