Alicia Barber completed a Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of
Texas at Austin in May 2003 and served as a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Core
Humanities program for three years. She is now a visiting Assistant Professor in the history department. Her dissertation focused on the intersections between
civic reputation, urban development, heritage, and tourism in Reno. Her
research and teaching interests include American history and literature,
tourism, urban studies, memory and place, and public history. In September
2003, she was appointed to the Historical Resources Commission for the
City of Reno, and she has since appeared in forums and radio broadcasts
as an expert on history and cultural tourism in Northern Nevada. |
