Paleoindian and Paleoarchaic
Archaeology of the Great Basin

The Sundance Archaeological Research Fund is an ongoing research program of the Department of Anthropology at the University of Nevada Reno. Sundance was created by an endowment given to the University of Nevada Reno Foundation in 1994. The purpose of the endowment is to support long-term archaeological research in the Great Basin of western North America, focusing on the archaeology and paleoecology of the Paleoindian and Paleoarchaic periods (predating 7,000 years ago). Sundance conducts a three-month annual field research season each year, working in collaboration with other universities and federal land management agencies. Sundance also has a fully equipped archaeological laboratory on the campus of the University of Nevada Reno.Map of United States with approximate limit of Great Basin of Western North America
