Description: CLAGS is an interdisciplinary effort to increase dialogue and knowledge across the liberal arts and beyond. This year's theme is Identity in Time and Place. Understanding how our identities formed in a particular place and time is one key to unraveling what is means to be human and, as scholars, we conceive identity in broad social, cultural, political, economic, and methodological terms.
30 graduate students from 10 departments will be presenting this year. Panel topics include literature, class, gender, religion, perception, protest, Cold War, Burning Man, online identity, and constructing identity. There will also be a workshop panel on Academic Publishing.
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Deborah A. Boehm, UNR Assistant Professor, Anthropology and Women's Studies. Her speech is titled “Going Back: Tracing the Temporalities and Geographies of Deportation”
