The
Sarajevo Diaries by Adam Laurie
Laurie is in Sarajevo for the Charity International
Humanitarian Aid Concern to install an internet web
server. This is his daily developing diary, which
includes information about what is going on around
him. It also includes links to other sites that deal
with various aspects of life in Sarajevo: from mines
to modeling. Links also to The New York Times and
United Nations to see international events, and to
many photos.
Das
Ist Walter-Sarajevo Zone
This
is a home page (of Goran), part of a larger site,
"a student-run server at Monash University in
Melbourne, Australia." The creator left Sarajevo
in 1992, and has dedicated this site to his beloved
city. It has before and after photos, art, and tourist
information (to encourage people to visit the now-safe
city that is being rebuilt).
megastories.com
This
is an excellent site! It deals with Bosnia today,
broken up into several interactive headings. You can
read personal testimony from people injured or displaced,
study the psychology that "makes people mass
murderers" through the different genocides in
the twentieth century, connect to live chatters about
Bosnia, or find ways to get involved and be informed
about what is going on at the moment. My personal
favorite thing, however, is the "Policy Maze."
You are given the different choices that the EC has
had to make. Each choice leads to a new one, eventually
landing at some alternative or real policy that has
been created to promote peace.
The
United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for
the Former Yugoslavia
A fascinating web site that is updated constantly
on the recent and ongoing indictments of war crime
criminals in the former Yugoslavia. The ICTY is mandated
to prosecute persons responsible for serious violations
of international humanitarian law committed in the
territory of the former Yugoslavia since 1991. On
this site you will find the latest documents and news,
press releases, and tribunal cases pending against
those who have committed genocide. Names of the indited
are given as well as full documentation of the charges
brought against the offenders. So far the ICTY has
brought about 20 public indictments against 74 individuals
plus a number of sealed indictments.
