Valerie Weinstein
Valerie Weinstein, Assistant Professor
of German at UNR, earned her Ph.D. in German Studies
from Cornell University in 2000. Before coming to UNR,
she taught for a year as a Visiting Assistant Professor
at Williams College.
Dr.
Weinstein's research interests include ethnicity, gender,
and sexuality in German film, culture, and literature.
She is currently revising her dissertation, "Mistaken
Identity in Wilhelmine, Weimar, and Nazi Film"
into a book with generous support from a Junior Faculty
Research Grant and working on several articles on Jews
in German film and on fascist aesthetics. She has also
published on German colonial literature.
She currently teaches German language, literature, culture,
film, and Core Humanities 202. In Spring 2004 she will
be offering a course on Film in the Third Reich.
