I was born and raised in Burundi, Africa. I earned a
BA in English Language and Literature from the University
of Burundi, a M.Ed. in Teaching English for Specific
Purposes from the University of Exeter, U.K., and an
Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and Bilingual and
Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University,
Flagstaff, Arizona. I taught French and English in secondary
schools for 12 years.
I
have been a teacher educator for 12 years also. I have
worked two jobs for the majority of my working life,
thus the overlapping experiences. I am currently teaching
multicultural education in the
Department of Curriculum and Instruction at UNR. I have
two wonderful teenage children who love school and football.
