Elavie Ndura

I was born and raised in Burundi, Africa. I earned a BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Burundi, a M.Ed. in Teaching English for Specific Purposes from the University of Exeter, U.K., and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction and Bilingual and Multicultural Education from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona. I taught French and English in secondary schools for 12 years.

I have been a teacher educator for 12 years also. I have worked two jobs for the majority of my working life, thus the overlapping experiences. I am currently teaching multicultural education in the
Department of Curriculum and Instruction at UNR. I have two wonderful teenage children who love school and football.

"I hope to represent the many voices that have been for ever silenced by oppression, intolerance, and genocide and to contribute to the local, national, and world efforts to build a society that includes and values every person regardless of cultural background."
