Activities
The Gedenkdienst Interns at the Center for
Holocaust, Genocide & Peace Studies work in
various fields. Projects cover a wide range of academic
activities and community outreach:

One
of the most important projects at this time is visiting
Elementary, Middle and High Schools in and around
Reno to talk to students about the Holocaust, Gedenkdienst,
and Austria. |
 |
Preparation
of exhibits on the Holocaust from the Center's archives
in conjunction with the director, board members,
staff, and volunteers. Interns also work on online-versions
of there exhibits. |
 |
Selection
and development of materials, and lessons plans
for the ongoing peace curriculum project. This curriculum,
for children ages 10-15, teaches peace consciousness,
tolerance, and conflict resolution skills through
literature and the arts. |
 |
Organization
of community events such as a concert with music
that was banned by the Nazis, jewish liturgical
music, and music that was performed in the Theresienstadt
camp. |
