• Tasha Elizabeth (Palmer) Lopez (B.S.Ch.E., 1999) completed her M.S.Ch.E. at UCLA in June 2001, with a thesis entitled "A Lexicographic Approach to the Synthesis of Thermodynamically Feasible Reaction Clusters."  She married Christopher Lopez on May 5, 2001, and worked for 2 years as a product engineer for IBM in New York.  Now she is back west, working in southern California for the new Engineering & Technology Services division of IBM (www.ibm.com/technology) in sales and business development.  Her email address is tasha_lopez@yahoo.com.
• Lisa (Taylor) Thayer (B.S.Ch.E., 1999) is a Trials Process Engineer with US Filter  of Colorado Springs and works out of Reno.
• Geoffrey Bothun (B.S.Ch.E., 1998; B.S. Chemistry, 1998) has completed his M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of Kentucky, Lexington (July 2001) with a thesis on "Application of Compressed Fluids to Polymeric Fractionation and Membrane-Based Extraction."  He is now working towards a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at UK on the topic "Transport and Flux in Whole Cell Biocatalysis in the Presence of Compressed Solvents."
• Jason F. Dunphy (B.S.Ch.E., 1998) is a plant engineer at Polymer Manufacturing Corporation, in Moundhouse, Nevada.
• A. Ryan Montes de Oca (B.S.Ch.E., 1998) is a process engineer at Kal Kan Corporation, Reno, NV.
• Mel Thweat (B.S.Ch.E., 1998) is a staff engineer at ABB Automation in Carson City.
• Luan Van (B.S.Ch.E, 1998), completed his M.S. in Chemical Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2000 with a thesis on "Ion Induced Ripple Formation on Deep-Ultraviolet Photoresist and Line Edge Roughness."  Luan now works as a Process Development Engineer in electron-beam lithography at Applied Materials Company , in Hayward, California.
• Juan E. Varela (B.S.Ch.E. 1998, M.S.Ch.E., 2000) has joined the Edison Engineering Program at General Electric Nuclear Corporation in San Jose, California.
• Yu Xin (M.S.Ch.E., 1998; M.S. C.S., 2000) is a software engineer at Abbott Laboratories in San Diego, CA,  where she is modeling biological systems.
  
• Scott A. Cooper (B.S.Ch.E., 1997; M.S.Ch.E., 2003) is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering at UNR.

• Matthew B. Gotchy (B.S.Ch.E., 1997; B.S. Professional Chemistry, 1997; M.S.Ch.E., 1998) is an engineer at Sierra Engineering, Inc., in Carson City, working on the design of rocket engines.  Matt is also a part-time Chemical Engineering Ph.D. student at UNR.

• Jerry A. Lorengo (B.S.Ch.E., 1994; M.S.Met.E., 1996) earned his J.D. from the Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, in Washington, DC, in May 2003.  He is a Primary Examiner for the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
• Renee L. Russell (B.S.Ch.E., 1991) is a research engineer for Battelle, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland, Washington.  Her e-mail address is rl_russell@pnl.gov.
• David R. Shonnard (B.S.Ch.E., 1983), professor of chemical engineering at Michigan Technological University, was selected by EPA to coauthor a definitive textbook on Green Engineering:  Environmentally Conscious Design of Chemical Processes, published by Prentice Hall, 2002.  He also won a 1998 Industrial Ecology Research Fellowship from the National Science Foundation and Lucent Technologies.
• John H. (Jack) Templeton (B.S.Ch.E., 1983), process engineer and project manager for Science Applications International Corp. (SAIC), received the Arthur F Taggart Award of the SME.
