Students can receive assistance in writing a resume as well as receiving a resume critique. Resume critiques can be completed via email or in person by setting an appointment.
The College of Business in conjunction with the University’s Career Development Office offers a career & internship fair each semester. The Career Fair is FREE to students and is a great way to meet a variety of employers looking for interns and full time employees.
Our office will assist in preparing you, your resume and help you find open positions in the field of your interest. Please make an appointment with our director to be on your way.
A job shadow is an opportunity for a student to “shadow” an employer for a period of time, generally 2-8 hours during the work week. Shadowing helps students understand the daily activities of the workplace and the roles and responsibilities of full-time employment. The Office of Career Connections is willing to assist students in identifying individuals who are willing to have students shadow them.
On campus recruitment is conducted in the spring and fall semesters. It is an opportunity for students to interview with recruiter’s on-campus for internships and full-time positions upon graduation. Many employers look to interview students from the last semester in their junior year through one semester after graduation.
An internship consists of a short-term relationship (150-200 hours through a semester) in which the employer provides a student with exposure to their field of study through work experience, training, supervision and feedback. Most internships through the College of Business are paid positions, although unpaid internships are accepted. Internships are not a guarantee of full-time employment, but can be a great way for both the employer and intern to determine a future fit.
Students should take the initiative to locate their own internship opportunity or work with the Office of Career Connections to identify a potential internship employer. Additionally, internship opportunities can be found on Career Navigator, through a faculty recommendation, or through the semesterly Career Fair.
