Declaring a Business Major

New College of Business students are admitted as pre-majors rather than in a specific major. Pre-major students may not enroll in upper-division business courses (300 or above) until they have completed the pre-business core courses.

Requirements for Acceptance to a Business Major:

  • Completion of the 9 pre-business courses
  • 2.0 University GPA

Pre-Major Classes:

  • ACC 201: Financial Accounting
  • ACC 202: Managerial Accounting
  • IS 101: Introduction to Information System
  • ECON 102: Microeconomics
  • ECON 103: Macroeconomics
  • ECON 261: Principles Statistics I
  • ECON 262: Principles Statistics II
  • MKT 210: Marketing Principles
  • MATH 176: Calculus

Please note: These requirements are the minimum standard that all student are encouraged to surpass. Success in a major or program is dependent upon a student developing strong quantitative and English usage skills.

Requirements for Graduation:

Students must complete all degree requirements with a 2.0 University GPA in order to graduate.

Requirements to Declare a Business Minor:

Business students must complete the pre-business core and be declared into a College of Business major. Students with majors in other colleges should contact the College of Business Student Success Center to declare a College of Business minor.
