About the Section
Elizabeth Howard - Section Leader
Welcome to the Piccolo section! Being in the piccolo section is one of the most memorable experiences we all gain while going to school at The University of Nevada and being a part of the Wolf Pack Marching Band.
Our section starts bonding during the week of band camp before school starts, and during that time we come together like a family unit. There are activities to help make memorable moments. Last year we had a section versus section Olympic competition, scavenger hunt, lip sync competition and meet and greet with the cheer team.
Once school starts, we scale down to three rehearsals a week for two hours each, and we make the most of this time to get ready for upcoming events. Whether it is a football game or the Sierra Band Crusade, we are always prepared to have a great performance. The band also takes trips to provide more exposure for the University and our band. In recent years, we have traveled to Las Vegas, San Jose, and San Diego. Depending on the success of the football team, we may also travel to a bowl game at the end of the season. The year before last the band went to the Gildan New Mexico Bowl in Albuquerque to cheer on our team against the University of Arizona!
The friends you make while in band are always there to help., even if that means you need help with your school work! We all come from different majors. There are Biology, Vet Science, Geology majors, and more in the section, and you can always find the help you are looking for within the band.
The season may only last a couple months, but the friendships and memories last a lifetime.
Welcome to the Piccolos!!
