Academic History

Decision to Attend College: The most frequently cited reason for the graduate sample was to increase knowledge in a specific field (approximately 65%). Obtaining a better paying job was the second most frequently cited reason for attending college (approximately 48%). Parental influence was evident in that 21% indicated that they enrolled because their parents wanted them to attend college.

Concurrent Enrollment at Other Institutions: Twenty-two percent of the masters students were enrolled at another institution concurrent with their enrollment at UNR while only 10% of the doctoral students were concurrently enrolled. Their reasons for concurrent enrollment are shown below.
