The School of the Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno plays a vital role in the cultural and artistic life of the campus and community.
The school comprises three degree-granting departments of art, music, and theatre and dance, and several attendant programs, including the Argenta Concert Series, Black Rock Press, Lake Tahoe Music Camp, Nevada Chamber Opera, Nevada Repertory Company, Performing Arts Series, Reno Jazz Festival and Sheppard Contemporary. Our 600 undergraduate and graduate student, pursuing both majors and minors, have the good fortune to learn from and interact with distinguished faculty who are not only all experts in their fields, but also some of the most creative, imaginative and inspiring artists around.
I want to take a moment to thank you all for your support of the School and all of its programs. Without it, we would not be able to continue providing the arts education and performance opportunities that a university-based community expects and deserves. Special thanks this year goes to all the supporters and donors of our "Act I" renovation project (construction now completed!), and in particular to the Nell J. Redfield Foundation for its $2 million lead gift.
Starting in November, we will be delighted to show you our completely remodeled and re-tooled Redfield Proscenium Theatre, expanded scene shop and the beautiful new Edna B. & Bruno Benna Foundation Atrium entry into the building off Virginia Street.
We also offer more than 50 events each semester. Check out our calendar for a complete listing of the performances and exhibitions by faculty, students and guest artists. If you have questions about any of these events, please feel free to call our School of the Arts information line at (775) 784-4278 or email email@example.com.
