My name is Ana Karen Leyva, I was born in Mexico, but grew up in Western America. I’m a BFA student majoring in Photography, with a minor in Art History.
My current work is autobiographical. My earlier work was a study on the social relationships I choose to maintain with other young adults in transitional period of life. This series was followed by a self-examination project that explored my ethical beliefs and revealed a course of decision-making that made up the person I am today.
The tone of my work is often dark, as I am always exploring emotions and feelings that have otherwise been suppressed, or unexplored. I often work with both photography and painting within the same projects as I find that it allows me to fully have control over what I am trying to convey.
