The Front Door and
Front Door Gallery and McNamara Gallery are the primary student galleries at the University of Nevada, Reno and showcase everything from student solos, two-person and group exhibitions, to student-curated and organized exhibits, as well as BFA and MFA midway exhibitions and shows by the Gallery Management and Curatorial Studies class. Leaning towards learning and experimenting, these spaces are for students and run by students through the Sheppard Contemporary. Opening receptions always correspond the same day as Sheppard Contemporary’s professional exhibition season, so a large and diverse population of visitors to campus sees student artwork! Students from all corners of the Art Department are encouraged to be involved. Whether a new BA student, an Art History Major, BFA/MFA student, or an UNR alumna, anyone can apply to show in these public, highly visible spaces by dropping by Sheppard Contemporary and telling us about your idea!
Parking:Public parking is available in the small, metered lot on the north end of the Church Fine Arts Building; on the top floor the Whalen Parking Lot, located on the East side of North Virginia St, one building south of Lawlor Events Center; or in the metered lot directly south of Lawlor Events Center. The gallery and the Art Department are not responsible for parking tickets regardless of circumstance.
