Weaving: The Mouse Mandala

"Mouse Mandala", 1999-in progress, 6' diameter, multiple dead desktop mice

The mice for this piece have been collected over the years from various university computer labs and silicon valley corporations. The work is intended as a collective expression of work, the passage of computer time, emerging technological spirituality and as an ironic tribute to the weavers and craftspersons of the Luddite movement, the ill-fated anti-technological revolutionaries of early 19th century England. This is an ongoing project which currently features approximately 350 mice. I intend to eventually collect nearly 3,000 mice to complete this piece as a large scale floor installation, approximately 25-30' across.
