Dating back to the days of the wagon trains heading through the Great Basin to the gold fields of California, Reno has always been considered a perfect “stepping-off” point. Today, Reno’s location is perfect for those who wish to experience northern Nevada and northern California close up. The beauty of Lake Tahoe, for example, is located only 45 minutes from Reno. To the south of Reno, the state capital of Carson City is only a half hour away. And, perhaps best of all from a student’s perspective, downtown Reno’s many cultural and outdoor offerings can be accessed by foot in less than 10 minutes.
