Tibbitts Plaza

Tibbitts Plaza

Dedicated on April 28th, 1995 by friends, colleagues, and former students, this plaza honors F. Donald Tibbitts, an outstanding teacher at the university, after whom a university distinguished teaching award is named. A memorial plaque observes that, "Don Tibbitts had a unique ability to bring out the best in everyone. Let those of us who were touched by his generous spirit remember and emulate the example he set as a teacher and human being." In a large concrete planter, whose rim serves as a restful bench, rhododendrons grow under the canopy of Crimean Lindens. Near the water feature you can find a Japanese Maple and Canada Red Chokecherry.
