Institutional Mission and Goals: Planning and Effectiveness
Introduction
The most basic part of this standard is to demonstrate that the University has a well-defined mission and goals that define the institution. The mission and institutional goals are the basis by which the University is evaluated. While each member institution should have a mission and goals consistent with the Commission's Eligibility Requirements , the evaluation process for the Northwest Commission proceeds from the institution's own definition of its mission and goals. The institution's planning process and goals should be widely understood across the campus and result from campus-wide participation. There should also be a process by which the plan (and achievement of the plan) is assessed.
