Short Term Goals

Better internal communication.

Address faculty morale issues.

Shared governance.

Make decisions other than hierarchical.

Decentralize decisions to incorporate more involvement.

Enhance morale by recognizing the responsibilities of administrative power and not just their rights.

Orientation for students & faculty to include “rah-rah” about successes/strengths (high quality audio/video).

UNR website, ongoing calendar of seminars, colloquia, etc., (at least monthly).

Faculty club.

Increase internships with community organizations.  Encourage cooperative community w/alums.

Advertise/Describe on-campus events before they happen.

Campus gatherings to emphasize what’s going on in your department.

Musical university program, use our students to perform music on campus- lunchtime-dinner-events, to enrich the environment.

Check/replace the university mission statement every ten years.

Faculty club.

Acknowledge and support sub-committees.

Recognize and emphasize that the university is a team working toward the goal of the larger unit, rather than small parts.

Hire administrators who will build a sense of team, fire those who won’t.

Develop shared vision & creed with faculty,  students, and staff, etc., then incorporate it throughout culture.

Inviting and friendly individuals.

Improve communication.

Peer mentoring to increase student experience.
