ACADEMIC AFFAIRS/ STUDENT SERVICES COUNCIL

Mission

Provide leadership to ensure collaboration and communication between academic affairs and student services, promoting the university mission, unifying the university community, and serving all university stakeholders.

Goals

1. Maintain appropriate representation from each college, mission-related student services departments, and other administrative units.  In our primary activities of recruitment, advising and retention, we will work to:

--continue to attract the highest caliber students through enhanced
   recruitment efforts in a coordinated fashion.
--maintain diligent attention to retention of students through multiple
   approaches including orientation, advising, and development of 
   specialized programming.
--provide leadership in innovative programs targeting improving the
   college experience for our students.
--anticipate the changes in our student population in order to create
   a quality educational experience at the university.

2. Foster a constructive dialogue between units in order to contribute information that will influence decision making related to our primary activities.

3. Envision, study and analyze future needs in order to remain proactive in decision making.

4. Communicate with faculty, university committees, and applicable campus units about information related to our mission.

5. Assess all of our activities in order to ensure that programming is of the highest caliber.

6. Maximize the use of our resources in order to remain efficient and effective.

7. Remain cognizant of the needs of the citizens of Nevada, respecting diversity of all types in our activities.
