Jim Mikawa Ethnic Minority
Scholarship Fund
Professor Jim Mikawa was with the Department of Psychology for 27 years serving in many administrative positions including Chair of the Department. The one area Jim most valued was mentoring graduate students. He was especially interested in the needs of minority students. Since 1993 Lois Merrit Mikawa, Ed.D., has overseen the Jim Mikawa Ethnic Minority Scholarship Fund which has provided numerous research awards to under-represented minority doctoral students. The fund is now a one year fellowship for a doctoral student in clinical psychology with interests in ethnic minority research. There is opportunity for competitive renewal.

She hopes that after meeting the sustaining goal of one million dollars, a national scholar in clinical psychology with an emphasis in diversity/multicultural research and the commitment to mentoring shown by Jim will hold that position.
