High-Powered Amateur Rocketry

  • Tripoli is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement and operation of non-professional high power rocketry.
  • Aero-Pac The Association of Experimental Rocketry of the Pacific (AERO-PAC) is the Northern California and Northern Nevada prefecture (#23) of the Tripoli Rocketry Association. Aero-Pac hosts the ARLISS program and provides (through its members) the high-powered rockets for the student built payloads (such as CanSats).
  • Rocketry Online Rocketry Online is a resouce devoted to making available the most up-to-date information about the hobbies of model, high power and amateur rocketry. Includes good technical how-to's, vendor information, educaitonal programs, etc.

  • Edge of Space Sciences An organization of amateurs in high altitude ballooning and radios. EOSS is closely involved with the Colorado Space Grant in their student ballooning payload projects. Includes description of Balloon Track software.
  • Vaisala A scientific instrument manufacturer specializing in high-altitude balloon data acquisition and telemetry systems. This is what the professional meteorologists tend to use.

Amateur Radio

  • ARRL: Amateur Radio Relay League. National association for amateur radio enthusiasts. They cover licensing activities, provide study guides and testing services, and their website is a good general reference for Ham Radio activities.

  • Trimble: Manufacturer of small and cheap OEM GPS modules such as the Lassen SQ.
  • TMS: Authorized seller of Trimble GPS products.
  • GPS City An online source of GPS equipment.
  • Garmin Manufacturer of GPS units that are used in this project.
  • DeLorme Manufacturer of mapping software.
  • Microsoft MapPoint Software that can be used for integrating customized mapping features into your own Visual BASIC programs via the object feature. The EOSS program uses this in the Balloon Track software along with APRS radio telemetry to predict flight paths and to track balloons during missions.

  • Gold Peak Batteries North America website giving general data on their batteries. Its weird, but their websites don't all have the same data sources for their products, making it hard to find.
  • Data sheet on the Gold Peak GP330SCH sub-C batteries (3300 mAh batteries). These are available at Tower Hobbies and give a very high specific storage capacity and are rechargable.
