Missions

Max Transmitting Power: 300 mW

Weight: 85g

This is our Alinco handheld we bought ours used, the DJC5T is $160 new.  We used this handheld in our old secondary communication payload because it is lightweight and small.  It requires an external TNC (e.g. TinyTrak).  The DJC5T has an external speaker which adds size and weight to the radio.

Pros:

This handheld  is very small and light.  This is more important for the handheld sent up with  the balloon than any other radio since weight is an issue.

Battery life of >5 hrs when transmitting, full power at the 10 sec  interval.

Whip antenna

Cons:

300 mW Transmitting power

Needs an external TNC.
